What Licence Do I Need to Become a Truck Driver in Ontario?


It is important to note that in order to drive a truck in Ontario, you need to have a Class A license. You can obtain this license by taking the provincial test, or by passing the written knowledge test and driving skills test.

To obtain a Class A licence, you need to be at least 18 years old, have held your G2 licence for at least one year, and pass the provincial knowledge examination.

In order to become a truck driver in Ontario, you need to have a Class A license.

The class A license is required for any vehicle with a gross weight of over 11,000 kilograms.

The Ministry of Transportation requires that all drivers of commercial vehicles have a valid driver’s license. It is important to note that the driver’s license is not the only requirement. You must also have a vehicle permit and an operator’s licence.

There are two types of licenses that you can get in Ontario: a class A or class B license. The difference between the two is that a Class A license allows you to drive any size truck, while Class B only allows you to drive trucks smaller than 26,000 kilograms (57,320 pounds).

It is also required for any vehicle that carries hazardous materials.

In Ontario, you need to have a Class A, B or C driver's license to become a truck driver. To get a Class A license, you need to have completed the following:

  • 21 years of age
  • Graduated from high school or equivalent
  • Completed driver training course in Ontario and passed the exam
  • Completed at least 6 months of driving experience in Ontario with no more than 3 demerit points on your license.
